Safari, The big five & Paradise
Safari means “to travel” in Swahili and we are convinsed that a safari in Africa is one of the most magnificent experience you can ever have. Waking up to a beautiful sunrise, seeing the animals getting a drink at the waterhole and listening to the lion’s morning roar will without a doubt become a memory for life – the sound of nature and nothing else! You are far away from civilization and the stressful life and ready to take in everything the nature has to offer – raw! We, at Lost Adventures, will design your dream safari in Botswana or Tanzania.
Botswana is very special to Lost Adventures’ owner Mikkel Legarth, as this is the country where he co-founded the wildlife conservation project, Modisa Wildlife Project in 2010, together with Valentin Gruener from Germany. Mikkel will tell you that Botswana is one of the best places to be on safari and we have yet to meet someone who disagree. Botswana is very exclusive with a limited number of tourists per year, the locals are welcoming, and the nature is nothing less than spectacular! Botswana is also the land of contrasts and you we get to see that when you leave the wetlands at the UNESCO protected Okavango Delta known as Africa’s Last Eden and head south towards the dry but stunning Central Kalahari. This is the place where you will be welcomed by herds of oryx, eland and wildebeest – and if you look closely you will most likely stumble across a gang of meerkats!
Tanzania is another amazing destination for safari and offers a great variety in scenery, animals and experiences. The UNESCO protected Ngorongoro Crater should without a doubt be part of your itinerary. Ngorongoro used to be a massive volcano at the similar size of Mount Kilimanjaro before it erupted 2,5 million years ago and left a 260 square kilometer and 610-meter-deep crater. The Ngorongoro means “gift of life” – you will see why and it is named by the Maasai tripe who lives in the area. Another “bucket list” experience is the open plains of Serengeti, which offers amazing wildlife sightings and one of nature most dramatic spectacle – the great migration. Tanzania is also home to thousands and thousands of flamingos and you will get to see the “pink lakes” at lake Manyara, Lake Magadi to name a few flamingo hotspots.
There are different ways to experience the African wilderness: You can go for the rugged style of a mobile safari, a luxury mobile safari (Botswana) or lodges – or mix it all together. No matter how you wish to experience what the African bush has to offer, the Big Five and the lions’ power roar will soon become part of your dreams!
A tropical paradise
It goes without saying that adding a few days to your safari, or having a whole vacation, at the picture-perfect beaches at Zanzibar or at the exclusive, private island Mnemba is not to me missed! This is the perfect finale to a perfect adventure. Now, it is no longer the big five that is the paramount but rather the white sandy beaches, the warmth of the sun and various water sports you can try – and the possibility to plunge into the crystal-clear water and explore a whole new world underneath the surface.
Family & kids on safari
Many families dream about experiencing the African wilderness and share the experience with their children. After watching the Lion King, most children are eager to meet Simba, Timon & Pumba in real life and we can only understand why! If you are considering a family safari or a group safari, then please contact us so we can have a talk about the different options for perfect fit for your family.
