Safari & Beach adventures

“Safari” means “to travel” in Swahili. Waking up to beautiful sunrises, seeing animals at the waterholes and listening to the morning roar of a faraway lion are among the magical pieces that join to create a safari. Far away from the rest of civilization and the monotony of its daily routines, you can explore everything nature has to offer at its rawest.

A safari in the African wilderness is a singular experience unlike any other. Spot inquisitive elephants amid the verdant, flooded plains of the Okavango Delta in Botswana, experience the Serengeti’s astonishing Great Wildebeest Migration in Tanzania, search for the “big five” game animals in the grasslands of Kenya’s Massai Mara National Reserve or savor the rare opportunity to come face-to-face with a mountain gorilla in Rwanda.

Accommodations range from luxury lodges, to cozy camps, to rustic tents. Whether you aim to enjoy a relaxed trek, a gritty adventure, or something in between, Lost Adventures works with some of the best and most experienced safari operators in Africa to arrange the perfect experience for you.

Explore a tropical paradise

End your safari with a trip to the crystal-clear waters and white sand beaches of Zanzibar to create an unforgettable experience.

On safari, spot monkeys cavorting in the forests around Mount Kilimanjaro and take in the majesty of Africa’s highest peak lit by morning light. Hear the adrenaline-inducing thunder of hooves as mega herds of grazers travel across the Serengeti for the breathtaking Great Wildebeest Migration. Listen to the songs of the hundreds of thousands of birds drawn to the sedate gray waters of Lake Manyara each year and watch as the waters fill with the cheery pink feathers of visiting flamingoes. In the acacia woodlands of Tarangire, spot warthogs roaming alongside lofty giraffes, bobbing zebras and grazing wildebeests.

After all the adventure, take the time to soak it in with a trip to Zanzibar. Don a snorkel and survey bright coral reefs in the Indian Ocean, filled with a colorful array of tropical fish. Explore the historic architecture and narrow alleyways of Stone Town, influenced by African, Arabic, Indian and European cultures over hundreds of years. Or laze about on any of the archipelago’s picturesque beaches and allow the experiences and the memories of your safari to sink in. Zanzibar can add the picture-perfect end to any safari experience!

When to start planning?

We work with small camps and exclusive lodges and resorts to give you the best and most authentic experience of Africa. With this in mind, the earlier we start planning your trip, the better. The ideal time to start organizing your safari or beach holiday is six to eight months before your planned departure date – especially if you want to travel during peak seasons, including around school holidays.
