Lost Adventures was founded by Mikkel Legarth to create immersive travel experiences that connect people with the natural world in a deeper, more meaningful way. What began with a conservation project in Botswana has grown into a global collection of high-end journeys designed to inspire, and to support the protection of the wild places we explore.
Some journeys are carefully planned. Others begin with a spark that leads somewhere unexpected.
From a young age, I was fascinated by Africa’s wildlife. Growing up in Denmark, I spent hours watching documentaries and reading about big cats, elephants, and vast, open landscapes, drawn to a world completely unlike what I was used to. Later, my dream was to become a pilot, but everything changed in 2008 when I encountered a leopard named Lost while travelling through Namibia. That moment shifted everything. It reignited the deep connection to wildlife and wilderness I had felt as a child and set me on a completely new path.
In 2010, I co-founded the Modisa Wildlife Project in Botswana with Valentin Grüner. Our mission was simple: to help protect Botswana’s wildlife and share its magic with others. Modisa became a place where people could engage directly with conservation, research, and the raw beauty of the Kalahari.
In 2018, I launched Lost Adventures, named in honour of the leopard that changed my path. What started in Botswana has grown into a global offering of high-end safaris and conscious travel experiences, all rooted in connection, care, and a deep respect for the natural world.
Today, Lost Adventures takes travellers to extraordinary places, from mobile safaris in Botswana to island retreats in the Indian Ocean. Whether you are tracking lions, joining a conservation project, or simply unwinding in nature, each journey is designed to inspire and to stay with you long after it ends.

At Lost Adventures, our mission is to design transformative, conscious travel experiences that deepen your connection with the natural world. Whether it's a luxury safari in Africa, a remote island escape, or a conservation-focused journey, each experience is crafted to inspire, educate, and leave a lasting impact.
We are committed to offering journeys that not only showcase the beauty and diversity of the world’s wild and remote places, but also support the people and ecosystems that make them extraordinary.
Through bespoke itineraries, purpose-driven projects, and thoughtfully selected partnerships, we aim to foster a deeper understanding of nature - and deliver unforgettable experiences that resonate long after the journey ends.
With a foundation in wildlife conservation and access to the world’s top travel networks, we create journeys that are personal, considered, and deeply connected to the places you explore.
Lost Adventures began with a passion for wildlife conservation and African safaris, and that connection to the wild still shapes how we travel. From exclusive safaris in Botswana’s raw wilderness to overwater villas in the Maldives and jungle retreats in Colombia, we design high-end escapes with first-hand knowledge and a deep respect for place.
We combine your curiosity with our insight to shape a journey that’s entirely your own. Whether it’s a private safari, island escape, or something unexpected, every itinerary is built from scratch - guided by your pace, preferences, and sense of adventure.
Born from the Modisa Wildlife Project in Botswana, Lost Adventures is grounded in a strong conservation ethos. The journeys we design are thoughtfully connected to the places they explore - often supporting local communities and efforts to protect the natural world.
Through our partnership with 360 Private Travel (endorsed by Forbes Travel Guide) and Virtuoso, two of the most respected names in luxury travel, we offer exclusive benefits and VIP access at the world’s top hotels and experiences. All journeys are financially protected and managed with the highest level of care.
